The gate does not ring my phone

Check that notifications are allowed for ajar in Android settings, and that battery optimisation is not restricting it. A phone that has put the app to sleep will miss the doorbell. Then check the app's home screen: if it says the hub is not answering, the agent at the house is offline and nothing will get through until it is back.

The gate will not open

The message under the button says which part failed. Home offline means the agent is not running. No signal is the phone's own connection. No answer means the agent is up but the intercom did not respond, which is worth looking at on the intercom itself. Not let in yet means an admin has not approved this phone.

I cannot add my intercom

Adding a device works from inside the house, on the same network as the agent. Some houses have two wifi networks that cannot see each other; if nothing is found, try the other one.

Somebody in the house cannot get in

Anyone who runs the intercom can invite a phone by showing it a QR code from their own app. The code works once and expires quickly, so generate a fresh one rather than reusing a photo of an old one.

Which intercoms work

ajar talks to a video intercom through an agent that runs at the house. If you are not sure whether yours is supported, write in with the make and model and we will tell you.

Anything else

Write to contact at codebldr dot com and include the intercom's make and model, and what the app said when it failed.
